Hi SharePointers,

In my previous blog, we have completed configuration of Microsoft SharePoint 2016 RTM successfully. Now, we are ready to configure our first Site Collection in SharePoint 2016 environment.

So, let's start

24. After immediate completion of configuration, SharePoint Central Administrator website gets opened with a child window to allow send participation confirmation to Microsoft to improve the SharePoint product. Select "Yes/No" option and click on OK button to continue..

25. Now, Welcome screen appears. it has option to configure SharePoint Farm. Let's click on "Start the Wizard" option on the screen to configure the farm

26. On the next "Service Applications and Services" screen, you can select the service to configure for your farm. Also, you can create new manage account using this screen or you can use existing account to configure your SharePoint 2016 farm.

28. On successful setup of farm, SharePoint creates default web application on port 80 in background. and you will be landed to SharePoint Central Administrator page. If you urge to create new site collection. you can continue to create in this step or you can create later.

29. Now, we'll create a top level site collection in Default Web Application site. you need to provide title for you site collection and description. Since, we are create a top level site so no need to select anything in URL.

30. On following screen, you have to select the template for your Site Collection. I have selected Developer Site. Also, you have to provide Primary and Secondary site collection administrator login ids.

Click on OK button to continue.....

31. Next screen will be showing message. SharePoint is working to create Site Collection so wait for sometime until site gets created.

32. On the following screen, You will see that Top Level site collection has been created successfully. Click on OK button to go back to SharePoint Central Administrator website.

33. Now, you can browse your created Developer Site Collection. you can check apps, features and new settings option of SharePoint 2016.

We are ready to develop apps for SharePoint 2016 using this developer site.

We go : Step by Step Installation of SharePoint 2016 RTM Part 4

Hello Everyone,

This is continuation blog on Microsoft SharePoint 2016 RTM. We have installed all the prerequisites for SharePoint 2016 and we can also resolve the perquisites installation issues using URL. If any.

Now, we are going to configure SharePoint 2016 RTM. You need to check the Mini roles of the SharePoint 2016 and based on your requirement, you can choose suitable option to install. We'll see installation of Single Server option in this blog.

14. Next "Welcome to SharePoint Products" screen is a informative screen that shows the information to complete the Configuration of SharePoint Products. Click on Next button to continue

15. On the "SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard" check out the information and Click on Yes button to continue

16.  On following "Connect to a Server farm" screen, Select the radio button to "Create a new server farm". if you don't have existing server farm. Click on Next button to continue

17.  On the "Specify Configuration Database Settings" screen, you need to provide the Instance name of SQL Server 2014 R2 to configure SharePoint Configuration database. Also, you need to user credentials to access the database in SQL Server. The User must have below permissions in database

  • DBCreator
  • Sysadmin
  • SecurityAdmin
  • Public

Click on Next button to continue

18. on the next "Specify Farm Security Settings" screen, you need to provide Passphrase and click on Next button to continue

19. On the following "Specify Server Role" Screen, Select a role that is suitable for your requirement. We'll select Single-Server farm in our case. Click on Next button to continue

20. On the following screen, you can provide available port to run SharePoint Central Administration Web Application. Also, Choose authentication provide for the web application. Click on Next button to continue...

21. On the next screen, you need to verify the configuration details and Click on Next button to continue...

22. On the "Configuring SharePoint Products" screen, you can check the preforming tasks. If there is any error during this configuration. you'll be promoted with encountered errors. 

23. Following screen "Configuration Successful" means you have done with configuration and can check configuration settings before jump on SharePoint Central Administrator Web Application.

Click on Finish button to exit the screen.

We're done with SharePoint 2016 RTM configuration successfully. Congratulations!!

Hello SharePointers,

In my previous blogs, we have seen step by step installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2014 R2. Now, we're ready to install Microsoft SharePoint 2016 RTM on Windows Server 2012 R2.

So, Let's begin now step by step

1. You can download Microsoft SharePoint 2016 RTM from here

2.  You will get "Officeserver" ISO file of 3 GB. Right click on this file and select first option mount.

3. After completion of mount operation, A virtual drive will be added in your computer that contains all the setup files.

4. Now, browse the directory and find the "prerequisiteinstall" files to install the all prerequisites for Microsoft SharePoint 2016 RTM. Right click on this files and select Run as Administrator command from context menu

5. One window appears to allow to perform the changes in the System. Click on Yes button 

6. On the following screen, you will get the details of all the prerequisite that are required to install and update on the windows Server 2012 R2. Click on Next button to continue

7. On the "License Terms for Software Products" screen, Accept the term and condition by selecting the given check box and click on Next button to continue

8. Now, prerequisites will be installing one by one until all get installed successfully. 

9. Once, all prerequisites are installed. You can press Finish button to restart System. System restart might take some time.

10. Now, We'll go back into directory where all installation files reside. And, we'll do right click on "Setup" executable file to get the context menu. click on Run as Administrator commend to execute.

11. On the following screen, you have to allow setup to make the changes in the System. Click on Yes button to continue

12. Installation gets started, you can see the installation progress on appeared slaps screen

13. On completion of Installation, you will be asked to Run SharePoint products configuration in "Run Configuration Wizard". Select the "Run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard Now" option and click on Close button to continue

As of now, we have completed with prerequisites for SharePoint 2016 RTM. If you encounter with any issues while installing prerequisites, click here to resolve issues.

We go : Step by Step Installation of SharePoint 2016 RTM Part 2

Hi Everyone, 

In my previous blog, we started talk about RTM (Release to Manufacturing) release of Microsoft SharePoint 2016. Later, we have seen hardware and software requirements on MSDN website Microsoft. Also, we talked about trail period of SharePoint 2016 RTM. We could also install Windows Server 2012 R2 using the provided blogs URL and setup Active Directory for users and group with Window domain Controller.

We have already seen some perquisites for Microsoft SQL Server 2014 installation in my previous blog. So, I can say that I am having installed .Net Framework 3.5 features in Windows Server 2012 R2 and add a new service account named sp_admin for installation.

Now, we’ll start installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2014 R2 step by step.

1.     Let’s go the directory there we have installable files of Microsoft SQL Server 2014 R2.

2.     Right click on setup application and choose the Run as Administrator command from context menu. SQL SERVER process will be initiated to perform setup

3.      You will be promoted with SQL Server Installation Center window.  You can find multiple options in left panel of the screen. Click on Installation option, you should be able to see the “New SQL Server Stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation” option in right panel of the screen. Click on this first option on the screen.

4.      A new window “SQL SERVER 2014 Setup” appears on the screen it has all the steps to complete the setup. Firstly, you need to validate the Product Key for your SQL server. So, provide valid key in text box as depicted in below screenshot and click on next button

5.      In the following License Terms screen, you have to accept terms and condition by select the checkbox on the screen. You can also select checkbox for Customer Experience Improvement Program (CIMP) option for reporting errors to Microsoft SQL Server Team. Click on Next button to continue with installation 

6.      You will be moved on “Global Rules” screen. You need to click on the Next button to continue.

7. On the "Microsoft Update" screen, you need to check for updates for SQL Server 2014 by selecting the checkbox. Make sure you have good internet connectivity to download and install required updates. Click on Next button to move on


8.      In the following “Product Updates” Screen, you can see the product updates if any. click on Next button to continue

9.      On the “Install Setup Files” Screen, you can installation progress for downloaded product updates.

10.      On the “Install Rule” Screen, Check for all the rules. If you have warning for any of the rules then it should be fine.

Note – 1. You must add .Net framework 3.5 features in your server roles

2.  If you are installing SQL SERVER after configuration of Computer Domain Controller. You must use Network/services windows account to install Database Engine for your Database instance.

11. On next “Setup Role” screen, we have to select the installation type for the features of the SQL Server. We select “SQL Server Feature Installation” radio button and click on Next Button to continue

12. Next screen is “Feature Selection” Screen, you need to select features that support SQL server management tool and SharePoint in Shared feature. Though, you can select all feature or select below ones

              SQL Server Instances features

  1. Database Engine Services
  2. Full-Text and Semantic Extractions for Search
  3. Analysis Services
  4. Shared Features
    1. Reporting Services - SharePoint
    2. Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products
    3. SQL Server Data Tools
    4. Management Tools – Basic
    5. Management Tools – Complete

This is the continuation blog for Microsoft SQL Server 2014 R2 installation for Microsoft SharePoint 2016 RTM on Microsoft Window Server 2012 R2......

In my previous blog, we have added SQL Server Instances and shared features for the setup. Now, we'll continue with the steps to complete the installation successfully.

13. In the following "Features Rule" screen, we have to check that features rule should not be failed in any of the given. If fails then we need to add/install the required component on Windows Server 2012 R2.

Note -  you will see couple of new links in left panel of the screen. Let's finish off each one by one. 

14. On the "Instance Configuration" screen, we'll send the default instance and click on the Next button to continue

15.  On the "Server Configuration" screen, we have to check for all service and Account Name with password. Also, we can setup start type for the Server's Services.

16. On the “Database Engine Configuration” Screen, we have to select an Authentication mode for the SQL SERVER. And, we’ll specify the administrators account. 

17. On next "Analysis Services Configuration" screen just set the Server Mode "Multidimensional and Data Mining Mode" by click on Radio button and users account for Administrative permissions.

Click on Next button to continue

18.  On the following "Reporting Services Configuration" screen, we need select configuration mode for with Native and SharePoint integrated mode for Reporting Services as depicted below in screenshot. hit the next button to continue

19. On the "Distributed Replay Controller" Screen, we need to specify the user account for administrative permissions.

20. On the "Distributed Replay client" screen, we need to provide a name for our Controller Name and click on  the Next button to continue. 

21. On the following "Feature Configuration Rules" screen, we can verify the rules and status incase any failure.

22. On the "Ready to Install" screen, all the selected features can be verified to be installed.

23. Below screen shows that you have installed Microsoft SQL SERVER 2014 R2 successfully. Congratulations!!
